Wichita Dentist
Dr. Scheer is a third-generation dentist, following in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps. Dr. Scheer graduated from the prestigious Washington University School of Dental Medicine (St. Louis) in 1982. Prior to dental school, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Wichita State University in 1978. He is a native of Wichita, graduating from Wichita Collegiate High School at the age of 16.
Since graduating from dental school, Dr. Scheer has been a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry, Kansas Dental Association (KDA), and Wichita District Dental Society (WDDS). He has held many leadership positions within these organizations, including president of the WDDS (as were his father and grandfather), chairman of the Workforce Issues committee of the KDA, delegate to the House of the KDA, and lobbying team member of the ADA in Washington, DC. In 2008 he was honored by being invited to become a fellow in the International College of Dentist and in 2018 invited to become a fellow in the American College of Dentist. Dr. Scheer loves to teach, having served as a volunteer professor at Indiana University School of Dentistry and a clinical instructor at The Wichita State University Dental Hygiene School. But his favorite moments come when aspiring high school students come into shadow and he reveals the fascinating world of dentistry!
Dr. Scheer is also active in his community, having served two terms as president of the local Kiwanis club. He has served as an usher and sang in the choir at his home church of First Evangelical Free Church, as well as a past president of HopeNet, a local agency helping individuals and families restore dignity and order to their lives.
Dr. Scheer met his beautiful wife, Shelley, while attending dental school in St. Louis. Their son, Brandon, also earned a degree in chemistry from The Wichita State University, then his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry, and went on to become an orthodontist in the Denver area. Their daughter Casey got her degree in history from Southern New Hampshire University while simultaneously working for her dad as the marketing coordinator of Scheer Dentistry. She aspires to put her history degree to work either in a museum or as a tour guide in Europe.
Dr. Scheer enjoys working out (he has a gym in the basement of the office), water skiing, snow skiing, playing basketball, participating in Bible studies, listening to music, cooking, studying anything of science, and rooting on his beloved Shockers!
The Scheer family has been providing dental services for over 100 years, and Dr. Scheer draws on this vast experience to create beautiful smiles and durable restorations with the goal of keeping teeth a lifetime. Dr. Scheer loves his work and hopes to work into his eighties.
